Kammy Benson

DMD
Operations Manager & Former Nutrition Specialist/Interim Director
Kammy is a mom of three incredible teenagers who got her start in school nutrition by volunteering in the nutrition department. The rest, as they say, is history!

A trusted and loyal friend and colleague, Kammy and Jen have worked together since 2014 when they met at Encinitas Union School District. As a mom of a student with a special diet, Kammy volunteered to organize the nutrition facts labels for the new lunch menu. That project eventually became a full-time role as a Child Nutrition Specialist, where she managed accounting, applications, ordering, reimbursement claims, and day-to-day central office operations. Kammy also served as the Interim Child Nutrition Director for six months, running all aspects of the department. In 2021, she joined LunchAssist and has been coordinating behind the scenes ever since.

Before working in school nutrition, Kammy attended UCLA and Penn, eventually earning her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry. Following dental school, she spent the next decade helping run a family-owned dental practice while also raising her three amazing children. Her role at LunchAssist is at the intersection of small business administration and school nutrition, which meshes nicely with her previous experience and offers a desirable work-life balance. She loves traveling with her kids, spending time with her pets, and all things baseball (go Padres!)
